So to the ten people who called last night I'm sorry I didn't answer. I was at these presentations/events that sort of made it impossible. and i couldn't hear a damn thing. anyway, last night I went to the reception for Jennifer Miller's book "Inheriting the Holy Land" and heard her read from it. It was really cool. Then I zipped down to City Bakery for Eve Ensler's send-off party as she takes The Good Body on tour. It was lovely. And I got to see some of my most favorite people. Now, it is FREEZING in my apt. and I need to leave for work. Goodbye best summer ever.
HEY! Just a reminder to attend Kelly's book party Thursday!
From Kelly on Monday:
Hello and happy Monday.
Just a little reminder/update...
Word from the very fine people at the New Museum is that we can extend
the festivities an hour further (until 9 o'clock).
So it's 6 - 9 now. Whoa-pa!
Be sure to drop your card (or name on a napkin) in the hat for a chance
to win one of 3 posters that need good homes.
They will be drawing names at around 8:30, I guess.
Also, there's a bunch of really good shows up in Chelsea now. If you
haven't been for a while, and have some time, I highly recommend taking
a look on 22nd and 24th streets in particular. Inspiration awaits.
Hope you're all grand.
xx

so. this morning i was riding my bike down the bike lane on 9th st approaching 5th ave. i caught a glare and couldn't see the pothole in the bike lane. so upon smashing into it i went right over the handlebars, banged my helmet-clad forehead on the pavement, and slid on my chest and elbows. the bike had slightly worse luck, as the stem got knocked right out of the headset's grip and was sliding all around loose in there. both my brake levers bent under, my chain fell off and my front wheel got knocked out of true.
so!
i reported it to the department of public transportation, which you can do by calling 311, and they say it will be fixed in 60-90 days. It's work order #DM2005270016, reported at 4:52pm 9/27/05.
and! you can report it to transalt as well. transalt.org
yeah.
(i'm all about these pics, so i'm gonna post a few of 'em. here's krozier.)
So. This was a lovely weekend. Firday night I got whisked away by the lovely Ariston to the New York Film Festival opening night premiere of Good Night, and Good Luck. It's a George Clooney film about the McCarthy era and the TV journalist Edward R. Murro. The party afterward at Tavern on the Green was a gorgeous and fancy affair. George Clooney was there, along with Sofia Cooppola, Todd Solondz and THE David Byrne, who was sitting 2 rows ahead of me at the premiere! There was a delicious, giant buffet and bars galore and a band. Lovely. Then Saturday was The Wilderness opening at Supreme Trading. The work there was really awesome, they had 5 projections going at once in the backroom and it was beautiful. I got plastered on Red Stripe (and jello shots. ewww.) and we stumbled over to KCDC for more art & free beer. Then we made it to union pool to meet up with the rest of wburg. I drank waaaaaaaaay too much. But anyway, Sunday was a nice bbq at Rattlesnake's house, and then we interviewed prospective roomies for my new apt.
So that was nice.
Here are some other nice happenings this week to come to.
Tonight! Free Rainer Maria show at Arlene's Grocery. Isn't that nice?
Wednesday Tokion King of Zine Party
Thursday Kelly Burns' INY Book Re-issue Launch at the New Museum I can't fucking wait.
Also Thursday, Satirius Jones' show at Pussycat.
