“Speak Out: I Had an Abortion” documents 10 women’s abortion stories, from a 20-year-old single mom in Detroit to an 85-year-old Harlem resident. These stories are personal testimonies, not didactically political in nature. It is the power of a story rather than political dogma that drives the message of the film.
